Staff Prerequisites for hiring 2027

Sea Gypsy Village is a great place to come and work for one or two seasons. As a team member you will be part of a diverse live in community, who work together to provide good service for clients and a fun living environment. Working at Sea Gypsy is an opportunity to learn many new skills and explore interests. If you like the idea of spending 5-10 months living with a team of people, working outdoors, learning new skills and challenging yourself, then we are the right fit for you.

Requirements for all applicants

  • - Must be age 19 or older
  • - All applications are for either 5 months or 10 months (we will not accept 1-4 month applications)
  • - Preferably basic first aid or EFR training

Diving instructor

Requirements for application
  • - A PADI or SSI instructor’s certificate
  • - EFR training certificate

Actvites & Excursions Coordinator

Requirements for application
  • - Ability to comfortably swim a 600-meter length
  • - Comfortable with handling boats and large swell
  • - Basic first aid training
Preferences for application
  • - Experience in client servicing and hospitality
  • - Experience with kids and childcare
  • - Experience in outdoor guiding

Bartender

Requirements for application
  • - A minimum of 2 years’ experience in bar service
  • - Above basic knowledge in mixology and cocktails
  • - Knowledge on bar stock, cleanliness and running.
  • - Experience in client servicing and hospitality

Café Server

Requirements for application
  • - A minimum of 2 years’ experience in F&B service
  • - Basic knowledge on coffee and coffee service
  • - Knowledge in stock, stock taking, cleanliness and running
  • - Experience in client servicing and hospitality

Wait Person

Requirements for application
  • - A minimum of 1 year in F&B service
  • - Basic knowledge in F&B table and buffet service
  • - Experience in client servicing and hospitality

For all above positions

Anyone applying for the above roles, are also applying for the role of “School Team leader”. At Sea Gypsy we host camps for international schools. This involves shutting down the resort and running a program for about 90-100 kids age 10-12. We do this for about 15 weeks spread throughout the season.

As a team leader you will be working alongside colleagues as camp hosts to the school teams. Any applicants wishing to join us for 2027 must also be willing to support hostng these camps.

Requirements for team-leader role
  • - Like kids
  • - Enjoy being outdoors
  • - Provide a police background check from your home country
  • - Partake in basic first aid training
Some “good to knows” before applying
  • - Sea Gypsy is an eco-resort on a remote island, most of your days will be spent outdoors in a tropical environment
  • - As a remote hospitality employee, the hours are longer than usual. Expect to be on shift for 12-14 hours per day with a 2-hour break
  • - Your accommodation as staff is shared, we bunk 2-5 people per room
  • - As a team member, you are also living as part of a small island community and will be asked to join in tasks outside your official role.
